Day 15 stops
Flexible arrivalArrive in Luxor and check in to your accommodation on the West Bank. Settle into the domed villa-style setting, where the desert lies close by and the roof terrace looks out toward the Theban hills.

1 hourEnjoy a freshly prepared lunch at the accommodation, usually served in a relaxed setting with views over the desert-edge landscape. It is a gentle start before meeting the horses.

1 hourVisit the stables, meet the riding guides and spend time around the horses. The team will match you with a suitable horse based on your experience, confidence and size, then explain the riding style, tack and safety approach.

1.5 hours ridingBegin with an easy ride through West Bank villages, palm-lined paths and riverside tracks. This first route is about building trust with your horse, finding your balance and taking in daily rural life along the Nile.

1.5 hoursReturn to the stables for a home-cooked Egyptian dinner. Expect a calm, family-style meal rather than a formal restaurant setting, with time to ask questions about the rides ahead.
Day 27 stops
1 hourStart the day with breakfast at the accommodation before heading out for the guided West Bank sightseeing programme.

Part of a half-day tourVisit the Valley of the Kings with a private Egyptologist guide. The focus is on the royal tombs, the desert setting and the stories behind the painted chambers rather than rushing through the site.

Part of a half-day tourContinue to the Temple of Hatshepsut, where terraces, ramps and cliff lines create one of Luxor’s most striking ancient settings. Your guide explains the queen’s reign and the temple’s role on the West Bank.

Part of a half-day tourExplore Habu Temple, a large and often less crowded West Bank monument with deep reliefs and strong architectural lines. It gives helpful context before the afternoon ride that passes through the same historic landscape.

1.5 hoursReturn to the accommodation for a fresh lunch overlooking the desert and the Valley of the Queens area. Rest during the hotter part of the day before the longer ride.

3 hours ridingRide through villages and fields, passing near the Ramesseum, tomb areas and Habu Temple at the foot of Mount Thebes. The route continues into the desert, where you pause on the sand for sunset views across the West Bank.

1.5 hoursBack at the accommodation, a private chef prepares dinner. This is a good evening to rest, rehydrate and prepare clothing for the following day’s countryside ride.
Day 35 stops
1 hourBreakfast is served at the accommodation. The morning is deliberately unhurried, giving you time to rest or choose an optional activity.

FlexibleUse the free morning to relax, read on the terrace or arrange an optional add-on such as a hot air balloon ride, camel ride, or private visit to the Valley of the Queens and Deir el-Medina. Optional activities are arranged at extra cost and depend on local availability.

1 hourEnjoy lunch at the accommodation before preparing for the afternoon route through the agricultural side of Luxor’s West Bank.

2 hours ridingRide through sugar cane fields, banana plantations, farmland and small country lanes. The pace allows you to notice irrigation channels, donkeys, farmers at work and the contrast between the green fields and the nearby desert cliffs.

2–3 hoursJoin a local family cooking experience at the Luxor Stables family home. Help prepare a traditional Egyptian meal, then sit down to eat what you have cooked in a casual home setting.
Day 46 stops
3 hours ridingRise before sunrise for a ride toward the desert and mountains as hot air balloons lift over the West Bank when conditions allow. The cool air, horse hoofbeats and changing light make this one of the most atmospheric rides of the week.

1 hourAfter the early ride, stop for breakfast at a cafeteria near Habu Temple. It is a simple, practical break before the Nile sailing trip.

2–3 hoursBoard a traditional felucca for a relaxed Nile sailing trip with lunch served on board. From the water you see two sides of Luxor at once: rural West Bank fields and the busier East Bank riverfront.

Part of an afternoon tourCross to the East Bank for a guided visit to Karnak Temple. Walk through huge columns, open courts and sacred spaces while your Egyptologist explains the long development of the complex.

Part of an afternoon tourContinue to Luxor Temple and a short city tour. The temple’s position within modern Luxor gives a clear sense of how ancient stone, street life and the Nile sit side by side.

1.5–2 hoursDinner is served at a Nile-side local restaurant, with shared Egyptian dishes designed for tasting several flavours rather than choosing a single plate. It is a sociable end to a full East Bank day.
Day 55 stops
1 hourBreakfast at the accommodation before the longest riding day. Wear comfortable riding clothes, apply sunscreen and carry only what you need for the trail.

5 hours ridingSet out on a 5-hour ride from the stables through banana and sugar cane fields, quiet villages with mudbrick houses and routes leading toward Mount Thebes. From higher ground, take in sweeping views of Luxor and the West Bank, then ride through valleys, caves, New Qurna and past the Temple of Seti I area before returning through the fields.

1.5 hoursAfter the long ride, stop for lunch at a local restaurant. The pace slows here: shade, cold drinks and a proper meal are welcome after several hours in the saddle.

FlexibleSpend the late afternoon resting at the accommodation or around the stables. This is time to pack gradually, take a final walk nearby or simply enjoy the desert-edge quiet.

1.5–2 hoursOn the last evening, the chef prepares a special farewell dinner at the accommodation. Share stories from the week and say goodbye to the stable team and fellow riders.

Yes, this Luxor horseback riding tour is suitable for novice riders with normal fitness, as horses are matched to riding ability on arrival. If you have injuries, mobility concerns or limited riding confidence, ask before booking so the team can advise honestly.
The tour includes five rides of varying length, from an easy introductory ride of about 1.5 hours to a longer countryside and mountain ride of about 5 hours. The pace and horse matching are handled by experienced riding guides.
The rider weight limit is 85 kilograms. This limit helps protect the horses and keeps the riding experience safe and comfortable for both rider and horse.
Children may join from age 8, and travellers under 18 must be supervised by an adult. The child should be comfortable around horses and able to follow guide instructions during outdoor rides.
Accommodation is in shared two-bedroom apartments at Malkata House, a domed villa-style property near the desert edge with views toward the Valley of the Queens. Each apartment accommodates up to four people.
Yes, all meals are included: breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the programme. Meals include home-cooked Egyptian food, rooftop or accommodation meals, a felucca lunch and selected local dining experiences.
Entrance tickets for sightseeing are not included and are paid separately. The itinerary includes private guided sightseeing, but travellers should budget for temple and tomb entry fees, which can change locally.
You should bring your own riding helmet, riding trousers, boots or jodhpurs/chaps, sunscreen, mosquito repellent and normal travel essentials. Lightweight layers are useful because desert mornings can feel cool before the sun strengthens.
Airport transfers are not included, but they can be arranged at extra cost from Luxor Airport or Hurghada Airport. Hurghada is a much longer transfer, so Luxor is usually the more convenient arrival point.
Yes, riders must have suitable travel insurance that covers horseback riding and the activities in the itinerary. Check the wording of your policy before departure, as some standard policies exclude riding unless added as an activity.
